Not the most recent, but...

Above photo - 10/04/2007. (Not up to date)
My millenium quilt now has 37 rows x 36 rows, and I'm running out of fabric! Well, that's what I get for estimating. What I did originally was count of 50 two-inch squares, pinch the stack for height measure, then make every successive stack of squares that height. When I had 40 stacks, I stopped. 2000, right?

Weeeellll, not quite. More like 1550. I've started going through my two-inch stash to find squares in colors that will work with my progress and that haven't already been used. I've got a new plant in my head and I'll get there. I LOVE a challenge.

Blast from the Past

Yesterday I posted about a real 'blast' from the past - the Sputnik launch. Today I'm posting a pic that my mom brought over from her collection. She picked this out from my grandma's collection when they moved her into assisted living. I can't believe the suntan! And this is while living in Missouri. And the Big Hair - picture circa 1978, fer shur. BTW, that's my kid sister in front of me, the pale one. Obviously we don't look much alike. She favors my dad, while I favor my mom.

Sputnik day

Didja know today is the anniversary of the Sputnik launch - well, it's all over the news and Internet; Google even has a Sputnik heading today. I designed a Sputnik page in celebration.

I'm still piecing on my 2000 quilt. It is now 27 x 27 squares - that's 729 pieces! I'm more than a third of the way there! Pedro has been very patient with me laying out my rows on the living room carpet. Pedro Jr. keeps asking when it's going to be a quilt - in his opinion, it's just now big enough for a pillow!
